Prepare the lid for make up

Your eye lids should be oil free. This is the secret in keeping your eye shadow make up stay on for hours and to prevent your eye shadow from eye crease. You can use an eye primer or an eye shadow base. You can also use concealer or foundation to even out your skin and so your eye make up will stick longer on your lids.

Apply eye liner

You can use a regular eye liner pencils to line your eye. You can choose from the common colours of eyeliners like brown, black and grey. Today, you can buy various colours of eye liners. You can also pick a gel liner that can give you a thicker consistency. If you go for jewelled colour smokey eyes, you can line your eyes with heavy purple, deep green or blue.

You can actually create good eye liners out of your eye shadows. Take an eye liner brush, wet it and dip into a dark eye shadow and apply on your eyes like you will do with an eyeliner.

Bottom Lashes

You should blend in the colour of your eyeliner to your bottom lashes. Smudge the eye liner so you can achieve a great effect.

Applying the light eye shadow

Apply your light eye shadow as base for your make up. Sweep the colour over the lids up until your brow bone. You can use powder or whipped eye shadows.

Applying the dark eye shadow

Blend in your dark eye shadow with the previous eye shadow you applied. It should be below the crease. Blend in your dark colour eye shadow from the lash line and the corner of your eyes. Blend with an eye shadow brush in an upward motion. Blend into the lash line concealing the eye liner. Check your eyes and use a Q Tip if it needs more blending.

Put on your mascara

You can put on several layers of mascara, careful not to make your lashes stick together and create lumps. Use a water proof and smudge proof mascara. If you want more volume, pump up your lashes using a volumizing mascara.

The key to a perfect smokey eyes is to keep your eye shadows blended well together. For your lips, keep your lipstick in nude to put the attention to your eyes. You can play with mascara colours like blue or purple, don’t be afraid to try something new.
